As a lifelong artist, Thomas “Scott” Layman became professionally involved in art, graphic design, and video production at a young age. His mother has a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree and his father, Tom Layman, worked as a Senior Art Director for the Martin Agency for well over 30 years.
Scott's first paying gig was in 1998 producing a documentary and educational video of the Roanoke River Basin and the issues they were having with water resources. He was later hired as a video editor, videographer, and website developer with McArthur Communications in Richmond. His projects included the U.S Navy, The Virginia War Memorial, Greentop Hunting and Fishing, HHHunt Homes, Lifestyle Homes, and many Central Virginia businesses.
I'm proud to have worked on a multitude of complex projects while helping numerous organizations solve their visual, technical and business challenges. ~ Scott
Scott later started his own independent ad agency in Richmond, VA to focus upon small and medium sized business marketing solutions, including video production, graphic design, and website services. His clients included Land America, Interactive Financial Marketing Group, Chevrolet Town ‘N Country, Home Media of Richmond, New Dominion Real Estate, Ray H. Williams Homes, Huguenot Builders, and many more.
In 2005, he joined Interactive Financial Marketing Group as videographer, graphic designer, and marketing consultant. He worked with a team creating multiple national television campaigns, training videos, business videos, print design, and magazine campaigns, and website design concepts.
In 2007, Scott was hired by a prominent Richmond advertising agency, Kennedy & Green Advertising. His scope of work included graphics design, print design, video, and website design and development for high profile clients – Centex Homes, The Virginia War Memorial, New Kent Winery, The Blue Ridge School, Virginia Abrasives, and New Kent County – among many others.
In 2009, “Thomas Scott Layman: Advanced Media & Design” was established, continuing to maintain and grow his already highly successful presence in the media and graphic design industry. He continues, along with his talented network of professionals, to produce exceptional quality products for PR agencies, advertising agencies, his loyal clients, and new businesses.
...we value Scott Layman’s creative input and love his ideas. We will have a vague concept of what we want to convey in our advertising and he turns it into something fantastic...
